God is the creator of all things.

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” - Genesis 1:1 (NIV) “Lift your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one, and calls them each by name. Because of His great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.” - Isaiah 40:26 (NIV)

God created us in His own image.

“Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” - Genesis 1:26 (NIV)

We rejected God

We have all sinned. Sin is often thought of only as our wrongdoings, however, it is more than that sin is our rebellion and rejection of God and His will for us.

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” - Romans 3:23 (NIV)

Sin leads to separation from God. A holy God and sin do not go together. Sin leads to separation from God. God will judge, and our sin must be punished.

“Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgement.” - Hebrews 10:27 (NIV)

But... God offers His grace

God sent Jesus to take the punishment for our sins, by dying on a cross, and rising again. Jesus is the only Saviour He alone is perfect and without sin. So, through Jesus, our sins can be forgiven and there is no more separation from God! This is how God showed us His grace - an undeserved gift, which cannot be earned.

“This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him. This is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” - 1 John 4:9 (NIV) Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”. - John 14:6 (NIV)

Through Jesus’ resurrection, we have hope for the future. We have new life in Jesus, and can look forward to one day being with God in heaven.

“Praise be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In His great mercy, he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade kept in heaven for you.” - 1 Peter 1:3-4 (NIV)

So... how will I respond?

God offers His grace to each of one us. We must decide how we will respond and whether we believe Jesus’ words.

[Jesus said:] “I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned, he has crossed over from death to life.” - John 5:24 (NIV)

If I believe that Jesus came to die and rise again so that my sins could be forgiven - my relationship with God can be restored, and I can look forward to being in heaven with Him.
