Stephen is part of the Forge Mission Training Network’s national team, an organisation that hopes to inspire a missionary imagination that will fuel a missional movement amongst the first world. At Forge, he is involved in teaching, training, writing and the coaching of emerging missional leaders experimenting with missional forms of church in Melbourne and throughout Australia.

In addition, Stephen works part time with TEAR Australia as the National Youth Coordinator, focusing on education and public speaking (in both Christian and secular contexts) on issues of social justice, poverty, consumerism and the work of TEAR internationally, as well as facilitating short term exposure experiences for young adults. He writes for numerous Christian paper and e-zines.

Stephen has been involved in youth and young adult ministry initially in inner suburban Melbourne and for the last 10 years in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne. His recent focus has been experimental models of mission and ministry.

Stephen is sought after regularly to speak, write and incite people in the first world to consider holistic missional responses to the challenges of the emerging global culture.

Background

I am a Christian, having been a member of Pentecostal, evangelical, radical discipleship and emerging churches in my life. I am passionate about multi-denominational relationship.

I believe in one triune God, a loving community of Father Son and Holy Spirit, which has created and reconciled this world through the Son's death and resurrection; and through the Holy Spirit invites all to respond. I believe the Holy Spirit is active in this world, through both culture, and through gifts within the people of God, bringing about freedom in Christ.

I believe we, as the church, have the immense privilege of participating in the ministry of Christ, through the Holy Spirit, in this world, in a manner which is relevant, radical and humble.

I am part of a new faith community (church plant) that is developing in the north eastern suburbs of Melbourne affiliated with the Churches of Christ.
